Remote workers sleep only 24 minutes longer than office workers

Published by Kateryna Danshyna

According to a survey conducted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), people who work remotely save at least an hour by not having to commute to work.

On average, each respondent received an additional 24 minutes of sleep and 15 minutes of exercise, and spent 10 minutes less time working than people who work in an office.

Separate data showed that «staff well-being» was one of the most common reasons why companies allowed employees to work from home.

According to the ONS, 13% of adults working in the UK work from home, while hybrid work (a combination of home and office work) has become more popular with 28% of those working from home.

Parents are the most likely to use mixed working conditions (—35%), while childless people make up 24% of this list. Moreover, among parents, men are more likely than women to use hybrid work — 41% and 30%, respectively, although it is unclear what factors account for this difference.
