
Tom Holland’s first scene in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was significantly cut, but Robert Downey Jr. fought to preserve it.
«After I got the contract, it turned out that the real scene was much shorter than the one I had at the auditions. It took up about two pages compared to the original eight,» Holland told Rich Roll podcast (via Games Radar).

«Downey said: “No, you’re going to want to spend time on this. Let’s take everything off the audition. You can always cut something out.”» Tom says. «And Marvel agreed. I’m grateful to him and would like to do the same for young actors one day.
Holland continued his role as the main character in the movie «Spider-Man: Homecoming» in 2017, and then appeared in several more Spider-Man films and two films in the «Avengers» series.
Work on the fourth Spider-Man movie is currently in production. At the same time, Robert Downey Jr will reunite for the movie «Avengers: Day of Judgment», which will be released in May 2026. The actor will play Dr. Doom, but What this change will look like remains to be seen.
