Salesforce boss: «Microsoft Copilot is just a new Clippy that frustrates users»

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff believes that Copilot artificial intelligence is disappointing and does not bring significant benefits, while Microsoft itself has done a disservice to the AI industry with its release.

In the Rapid Response podcast with the tagline «Salesforce can beat Microsoft in AI» Benioff predicts that when the hype around Copilot fades, the user base will start to shrink until the company sends the service to the cemetery.

«When I see Copilot sold to our customers, it’s disappointing. It doesn’t work. It throws data back and forth, it doesn’t deliver value. Copilot — is just the new Microsoft Clippy».

The head of Salesforce notes that «their company is now probably the largest provider of artificial intelligence for enterprises in the world», which can perform «a couple of trillion AI transactions per week». Recently, Salesforce presented its own Agentforce tool designed to create customized AI agents.

Microsoft has started an active movement towards artificial intelligence from investments in ChatGPT developer (rumored to be worth $10 billion), thereby securing licenses to use the GPT language model in its products.

Microsoft’s own chatbot Copilot announced last year in March (for Microsoft 365 services), while in late summer, artificial intelligence appeared in the beta version of Windows 11. In the spring of 2024 Copilot apps for iOS and Android were released (with support for 37 languages, including Ukrainian).
