
Mike Flanagan, the director of «The Haunting of Hill House», will create a television adaptation of the novel «Carrie» by Stephen King for the Prime Video streaming service.
The series will consist of eight episodes. Flanagan will serve as executive producer alongside Trevor Macy. The project will be part of the creators’ overall deal with Amazon, which also includes the creation of a series and a standalone film based on the «Dark Tower» series.
This is Flanagan’s fifth collaboration with King. The director has previously directed the sequel to The Shining called «Dr. Sleep», the film «Dangerous Game» and is currently completing the drama «Chuck’s life» with Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill.
«Carrie» — is the first published novel by Stephen King, which was released in 1974. The plot tells the story of a teenage girl from a religious family who discovers telekinetic powers and takes revenge on her abusers. The first film adaptation in 1976, starring Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie, was nominated for a «Oscar». A television sequel (1999), a TV remake (2002), and a movie version with Chloe Moretz (2013) followed.
