To Moscow: the largest drone attack on the Russian capital since the beginning of the war

Despite the talk of peace, the Russian-Ukrainian war continues unabated, and on some fronts it is intensifying. On the night of March 11, 2025 drones have arrived in moscow.

The attack by unidentified drones on Moscow and the Moscow region at around 3 a.m. local time is confirmed by numerous photos and videos on the Internet and by Russian officials. The Russians themselves say that this is the most massive attack in the entire time of the war they started. Airports shut down, Russian military air defense assets were deployed and REBs, in particular, complexes «Pancir-C1».

Attempts to jam and shoot down the drones were the probable cause of the hits on residential buildings. Some photos show the remains of air defense missiles on city streets. Many Russians witnessed a night of hell with dozens of explosions and fires. Authorities in the Moscow region reported three injured and one dead, as well as many damaged apartments. Not only the suburbs but also Moscow itself was damaged, including a house on Domodedovskaya Street.

Drones attacked the vicinity of the airports «Zhukovsky» and «Domodedovo». Damage was reported to the railroad tracks near the latter, with one of the stations not receiving trains for several hours. There was also a fire in the parking lot of a local business.

The Telegram channel shows photos of downed drones in a Moscow residential area. The source talks about a «known but not publicly available» type of UAV and suggests that this model could be used as a decoy for enemy air defense during the operation.

That night, not only Moscow was burning, but also other regions of Russia. The aggressor country’s military ministry says 91 drones were shot down in Moscow region, 126 in Kursk, 38 in Bryansk, 25 in Belgorod, 22 in Riazan, 10 in Kaluga and several in other regions, for a total of 337. Any Russian claims should be viewed critically, but they give an idea of the scale of the attack.
