Ukrainian and foreign press reports on Ukraine’s first strike on Russian territory by U.S ATACMS missiles. we should also expect further attacks.
Editor-in-chief of the site Censor.NET Yuriy Butusov, citing his own sources, reports that on November 19, the arsenal in the Bryansk region of Russia was attacked by ATACMS missiles provided by the United States. This is the first strike by American missiles on a military facility in Russia. Here is what the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation reported about it (without naming the weapon):
«On the night of November 19, 2024, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck the arsenal 1046 of the logistics center near the city of Karachev, Bryansk region, Russia. As of 02:30 that night, 12 secondary explosions and detonations were recorded in the target area. The destruction of warehouses with ammunition for the army of the Russian occupiers in order to stop the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine will continue».
So far, the General Staff has not commented on the ATACMS strike mission.
The journalist argues that the launch of long-range strikes against Russia will not change the course of the war, but will cause significant losses to the enemy, complicate logistics and force air defense forces to stretch the distance of possible strikes.
«And today, the Kremlin’s brown lines have been broken. And now the whole world will be watching to see if Putin will dare to take any action,» Butusov notes.
Publications RBC-Ukraine confirms this information, citing an informed source in the Defense Forces. Moreover, the website quotes the source:
«Indeed, for the first time, ATACMS was used to strike the territory of the Russian Federation. The strike was on an object in the Bryansk region, and it was successfully destroyed».
Website Global Defense Corp adds that the first ATACMS attacks on Russia could indeed happen in the coming days, again citing insiders. The publication explicitly states that «Ukraine intends to destroy the Kerch bridge after the US approved the use of ATACMS to strike Russia».
«Ukrainian Pravda» reports that on November 19, Vladimir Putin approved a new Russian nuclear doctrine. In particular, it provides for the use of nuclear weapons in the event of «aggression» by a non-nuclear state with the support of a nuclear state and «launch of ballistic missiles». Putin’s spokesman Peskov said that «the use of Western non-nuclear missiles by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Russia under the new doctrine could result in a nuclear response».
