Ukrainians complain about bank card malfunction — Mastercard confirms, Visa denies

Today, on March 9, users have encountered problems with payment using bank cards. They report that it is impossible to pay using terminals and ATMs.

Around 10 am, the website Downdetector recorded problems with both Mastercard and Visa. The vast majority of failures occur during traditional payments, with about 13% — during online payments, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.

How reports «Ekonomichna Pravda», in PrivatBank said about the problem and how to fix it:

«You may experience difficulties with some transactions at the moment. Our specialists are already working to eliminate the difficulties, we apologize for any inconvenience», — PrivatBank replied.

Monobank, on the other hand, talks about problems only with Mastercard:

«At the moment [11:36] we are aware of difficulties in the operation of the Mastercard payment system. As a result, there are problems with transfers, transactions may be canceled, and payments with cards of this payment system. Unfortunately, many banks are experiencing difficulties», — Monobank says.

The Visa payment system denies the problem with its cards:

«In connection with the media reports about interruptions in non-cash payments, we would like to inform you that there are no problems in processing payments on the Visa side. Visa’s facilities are processing transactions of Ukrainian consumers uninterruptedly and in full», — Visa reports.

In response to a request dev.ua Mastercard confirmed the problem, but says it is being resolved:

«Today, for some time, some Mastercard transactions were rejected. The situation has now been resolved and all systems are operating normally», — Mastercard reports.

Around 11 o’clock, the author of this news story was unable to pay with his card at the courier’s terminal. However, in half an hour he successfully made a payment online through the store’s website.
