The third «Venom» did not meet analysts’ expectations, opening with $51 million in the US on its first weekend, compared to the previous two films in the trilogy, which debuted with $80 million and $90 million respectively (the second one was released at the height of the pandemic).
Still, the global box office is «Venom: The Last Dance was saved somewhat by» foreign markets, which brought in $124 million to the total earnings of $175 million.
The film cost $120 million to produce (excluding marketing costs), which is much less than other superhero films this year, including third «Deadpool» and sequel «Joker»which cost $200 million each.
As for the global grosses of its predecessors, the first «Venom» earned $856 million during its entire run, and «Carnage» — $500 million.
It is noteworthy that the modest domestic box office for «Venom: The Last Dance» seem justified, given the disastrous estimates: for example, on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, it started with 38%while the audience on CinemaScore gave the film «B-» (the lowest score for the trilogy).

«Venom: The Last Dance» — is the final film in the trilogy about the symbiote and its host, Eddie Brock. According to the official synopsis, the main characters will have to risk their bond to save the planet. In addition to Tom Hardy, the film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ivans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham. Kelly Marcel, who wrote and produced the first two «Venom» films, directed «The Last Dance» from her own script, while Hardy also serves as executive producer and story developer.
Despite its modest domestic box office, «Venom 3» still took the top spot at the US box office, while long-suffering «Joker 2» dropped as much as 12 places in the fourth weekend. In general, Todd Phillips’ film earned $193 million worldwide without having to break its production budget.
«Wild robot» meanwhile continues its successful box office run, moving only to 4th place in its fifth weekend of release. The movie received excellent feedback — it is well deserved that confirmed total fees exceeding $232 million.
