Xiaomi 15 Ultra Silver Chrome Edition
Xiaomi 15 Ultra was released in two-color and monochrome versions, with a 5410 mAh battery, which were the main intrigues on the eve of the launch.
The new Xiaomi Ultra has a full-fledged Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 12 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage. The manufacturer claims 45% better performance and 52% less power consumption of the new processor compared to its predecessor (quite bold).
The battery with 10% silicon carbide content has increased its capacity by 8%. However, it retains the same wired and wireless charging parameters of 90W and 80W. The AMOLED display with a resolution of 3200×1440 pixels has a diagonal of 6.73″, an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 3200 nits.
The photo flagship received a four-camera system configured by Leica — a main wide-angle camera, a conventional short telephoto, a long prescopic lens, and ultra-wide-angle modules. The main camera is almost the same as it was a year ago — a 1″ 50 MP Sony LYT-900 with a 23 mm lens, but this year it has a fixed aperture of f/1.63, not a variable f/1.6-f/4.0. The regular telephoto has a 1/2.51″ IMX858 sensor, but the 75mm f/1.8 lens has been replaced with a 70mm f/1.8 lens. The ultra-wide-angle camera «on paper» has received a slight downsizing: 14 mm f/2.2 instead of 12 mm f/1.8, and the same 1/2.51″ Samsung JN5 sensor.
The biggest difference and the biggest upgrade of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the 100mm f/2.6 periscopic telephoto. The camera has a 200MP Samsung HP9 1/1.4″ sensor. The same as in the Vivo X100 Ultra and X200 Pro, and noticeably larger than the 1/2.51″ in the 14 Ultra. Xiaomi claims a fantastic 136% more light capture. All four rear cameras shoot 8K at up to 30 fps, while the selfie shooter shoots 4K at up to 60 fps. The main camera and 100mm telephoto also shoot 4K at up to 120 fps.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra comes in black or white colors, as well as in a special Silver Chrome Edition color scheme. The black version has a textured back surface and the white one is engraved. The frame is made of CNC-machined aluminum, and Shield Glass 2.0, according to Xiaomi, has 16 times the drop resistance. The Silver Chrome is finished with aerospace-grade fiberglass and polyurethane eco-leather. This phone is slightly heavier: 229 g versus 226 g, and almost imperceptibly thicker – 9.48 mm versus 9.35 mm.
Xiaomi offers 4 generations of Android OS updates and 6 years of security updates. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra 12/256 GB phone costs 6,499 yuan (€854, $895) in China, 16/512 GB — 6,999 yuan (€920, $960), 16 GB/1 TB — 7,799 yuan (€1,025, $1,070), Xiaomi also offers a professional photo editing kit for 999 yuan (€130, $140) Global release is expected on Sunday, March 2.
