If AMD’s victory over Intel in desktop processor sales used to be just a big one, now it’s a crushing one. In January, «blue» gained less than 8% of the market in Germany.
According to the X TechEpiphanybased on statistics from «one of the largest retailers of «iron» in Germany», according to Igor`s LabAMD has left Intel far behind in the country’s CPU market. In January 2025, 23,615 AMD processors were sold, while Intel can only boast of 2010 chips — that’s 92.16% of the market against the rest of the «blue team». The difference in the financial equivalent of sales is even more dramatic: €8.3 million compared to €600 thousand.
Ryzen 7 9800X3D was the undisputed winner with 8390 units sold. Other models with 3D V-Cache also sold well: Ryzen 5 7600X3D was sold in 2430 units, and the number of Ryzen 7 7800X3D sold reached 1640. The hit of the previous years, Ryzen 5700X3D, is also popular — 1230 chips were sold.

Intel processors do not have a single position in the top twenty best-selling chips. The most popular Intel Core i5-14600KF — is only in 30th place. The new generation of Arrow Lake seems to be a complete failure: The Core Ultra 7 265KF sold 50 units, while the flagship Core Ultra 9 285K was purchased by only 10 buyers.
The distribution shows that Intel’s difficulties are not limited to individual models. The old AMD AM4 platform remains extremely popular, despite almost 10 years on the market. AM4 processors sell almost three times better than all Intel variants combined. The share of AM5 is growing steadily and now stands at 71.84%.
Igor’s Lab believes that the factors behind Intel’s weakening in the market are less attractive products, low availability, suboptimal price-performance ratio, and frequent socket updates compared to AMD’s long-standing ecosystem. According to the website, if the trend continues, Arrow Lake chips will quickly become irrelevant. To change the situation, Intel will have to significantly improve gaming performance or introduce competitive next generation. At the moment, it seems that AMD has the market largely under control.
It should be noted that the current market ratio is not an isolated episode and is not unique to one country. Back in September, we wrote about AMD’s victory in Amazon, one of the largest retailers in the United States and beyond. Since then, «red team» chips have been steadily increasing their market share.
