«Dune 3» found the main villain — Robert Pattinson claims to be Skytel

Robert Pattinson is expected to join the cast of «Dune 3», joining Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh and Ani Taylor Joy.

According to Deadline, negotiations are currently underway — and if they are successful, Pattinson can play in «Messiah» main villain allegedly Skytel, a participant in the plot against Paul Atreides.

In «Dune 3» Paul Atreides (Shalame) rules as emperor, but falls into the trap of religious fervor. A secret plot involving Bene Gesserit, Tleilax, and the Cosmos Guild tries to overthrow him by introducing his old friend Duncan Idaho (Jason Momoa) as the gkhola.

Denis Villeneuve’s first two films were technically «Hero’s Journey», but Frank Herbert’s «Messiah» clearly shows that it is in fact the origin story of the villain. The third «Dune» takes place 12 years after the events of the first two parts.

Earlier, director Denis Villeneuve said that the third «Dune» would be the last in the series for him personally, but it is possible that the film will leave some ways for the sequel to be made by other directors. Insiders wrote that Warner Bros. is already working on «Dune 4» and is even preparing another series in the universe (currently on HBO) the first — «Dune is broadcast: Prophecy»).

Cinematographer Greg Fraser, who shot the first two «Dune» films, is expected to be replaced by Linus Sandgren («La La Land»), while Hans Zimmer will continue to compose the music.

Filming of «Dune 3» plan for the summer. The release date has not been confirmed yet, but Warner Bros. has reserved a slot in December 2026.

As a reminder, the first «Dune» earned more than $400 million worldwide and received 10 «Oscar» nominations (including — six wins), while the second almost doubled these achievements to $714 million, a few months holding the status of the highest-grossing movie of 2024.
