Mary Sue forever: Daisy Ridley will continue to play the main role in «Star Wars» films

It seems that Disney has not drawn any conclusions from the negative reaction to the latest film trilogy. According to unofficial reports, viewers will continue to see Rey played by Daisy Ridley.

The character, who belongs to the Mary Sue type, i.e. achieves nothing through her own efforts, was not liked by the fans of «Star Wars». The same applies to the plot of the last three films, which were not criticized only by lazy reviewers. It looks like it’s going to stay that way The Hollywood Reporter reports that several of the next films in the «franchise revolve around»’s Rey.

Simon Kinberg’s recently announced «Star Wars» trilogy, possible Episodes X, XI, XII, will be built around the character of Ridley. Rey will also allegedly get a solo project by director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. However, other projects currently in development will also feature Ridley.

One source reports that Rey is «the key to the next turn of the» franchise: «[Rey] is the most valuable cinematic asset, in a sense, maybe the only one that «Star Wars» has right now».

Rey’s return in multiple «Star Wars» — movies is a very bold (in a bad way) move on the part of Disney chairman Kennedy. Fans are still recovering from the previous trilogy. And if it received a satisfactory financial result — it is not a fact that the same will happen with the next films. The universe «Star Wars» contains many worthy characters but he was elected to continue as an openly unpopular one.

The last movie with Ray grossed $1.077 billion, but was not well received by audiences. It received a B+ from audiences surveyed by CinemaScore and 51% of critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

In addition to the aforementioned, Lucasfilm is currently developing at least seven other «Star Wars» films from directors James Mangold, Dave Filoni, Donald Glover, Taika Waititi, Rian Johnson, Shawn Levy, and Patty Jenkins.
