Actor Sean Fontenot, who played one of the main characters in GTA 5, Franklin Clinton, spoke about the unusual circumstances of the game’s creation during a stream with blogger Kai Senat.
Prior to working with Rockstar Games, the actor had problems with the law and suffered several gunshot wounds. The studio offered him a job at the time when he could have received a long prison sentence.
«I told them: “I don’t want to do this shit, get it all off me [motion capture equipment].” Then they sat me down to talk, and the director just said: “Trust me”. They were hiding the fact that it was Grand Theft Auto 5 — instead, they told me that we were working on some game called Paradise. It was all because of their secrecy. We didn’t even realize that it was GTA 5 until a whole year had passed,» the actor said.
To keep the secret, the developers even «changed the name of the main character – instead of Franklin, the actor played the role of «DaShaun».
