GSC Game World studio congratulated players on Valentine’s Day. The developers regrettably recalled the Russian attack on the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, but decided to release the greeting anyway.
The video shows a stalker holding a large heart, similar to an artifact of the Zone, in a snowy Pripyat game, amidst a blizzard. Background music plays, blind dogs and other mutants run carefree in the background, but sounds are heard and flashes are seen in the distance.
We had been preparing a lighthearted and warm video for Valentine’s Day, but then, last night, Russia attacked the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Given the circumstances, things don’t feel very ‘lighthearted’…
Still, since the video was already made — here it is.

This is not the first time GSC has teased the Winter Zone, although it seems to be early fall in the game. For Christmas the studio also showed winter, near the BC «Energetik». However, earlier rumors about the winter locations of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.2 are not out of the question. Perhaps the developers are not just saying happy holidays, but have something more in mind?
For now, players are enjoying patch 1.2 to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobylwhich brought a huge number of changes. The author of the news felt them when some stuck quests suddenly moved forward, and other quests taken «sidequests» after loading suddenly failed. So the developers probably still have a lot of work to do, and players will probably see the Zone in winter someday.
