The second movie «Alien: Romulus» will take the franchise into «uncharted waters», — director

Fede Alvarez revealed that he has practically started preparing to work on the sequel “Alien: Romulus”. The second movie will showcase a part of the franchise “where we have never been”.

“Rodo [Sayagues, co-writer] and I are working on it right now. We are thrilled about where this could go. We have almost checked all the ‘boxes with things’ that I want to see, what I want to see [in the movie], and returned many things that I have not seen recently. Wherever we go, we can enter uncharted waters. I think it will be very exciting to venture with the characters you know from this movie into a place within the ‘Alien’ franchise where we have never been, and to discover what you have never seen before,” said Alvarez.

Last year Fox President Steve Asbell announced work on the sequel to the successful “Romulus”. He added that he “fell in love” with the survivors — Rein (Keilie Spaini) and Andy (Daniel Jonsson), and wants to see the continuation of their story. However, the film had not yet received the “green light” at that time.

“Alien: Romulus” by Alvarez grossed $350.8 million on a budget of $80 million and was recognized as one of the best “Alien” films. Its finale opens the door for a sequel that will almost certainly be released.
