Users complain about iPhone slowdowns with iOS 18 — the company has received an official request from the state and must respond

Apple received a notice from the Central Consumer Protection Authority of India (CCPA) due to user complaints about iPhone performance following the iOS 18 update.

The official notification was issued after the Indian Consumer Affairs Department received complaints on the National Consumer Helpline, as reported on X by the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi.

“Having received complaints on the National Consumer Helpline regarding issues with iPhone performance after the software update to iOS 18+, the department, after reviewing these complaints, sent a notice to Apple through CCPA, demanding a response on this matter”.

Complaints come during Apple’s expansion in one of the most promising markets, where the company is increasing its retail presence and production. User concerns about performance coincide with the introduction of a new artificial intelligence feature in iOS 18.

The AI feature, designed to provide personalized news, was disabled in a beta update last week after journalists reported false or misleading notifications. Apple acknowledged the issue and temporarily removed this feature in the beta version of iOS 18.3.
