Michal Nowakowski, co-CEO of CD Projekt Red, creators of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, strongly denied the studio’s problems due to diversity and mass exodus of specialists.
Despite the fact that the company did sign the «Diversity Charter», which contains a commitment to combat discrimination in the workplace and promote diversity, according to Nowakowski, employees are admitted to the CDPR on the basis of professional qualities and the studio is guided by an artistic idea when creating games. He also says that there is no «frame flow».

«We seem to be living in a time when anyone can record complete nonsense and make a story out of it. Is talent leaving CDPR? We have the lowest turnover of people in recent years. Recruitment driven by DEI? We only hire based on merit and talent, just like we create games based on artistic vision. Why did we choose UE? Because it allows us to work on our games more efficiently and we stay on top of the technology. Has the game director of The Witcher 3 left? Well, yeah, over 2 years ago… Now we can stop responding to conspiracy theories and get back to making cool stuff?»
Earlier, the Endymion YouTuber, citing internal sources spoke about CDPR’s difficulties in hiring specialists due to its diversity policy and recent professional exodus. Endymion is known for making provocative statements with reference to insiders that attract viewers and the press, but do not seem to be substantiated. The screen of anonymous sources really allows for any statement to be made, so such references should always be treated critically.
Meanwhile, there is no objective evidence of a crisis for The Witcher producers. CD Projekt Red now is working on several games in various studios around the world. Adam Kicinski, Chief Strategy Officer at CD Projekt, says that «diversity of opinion unleashes creativity and increases innovation».
