The most interesting new series of June 2024

In June, series sequels look at least as attractive as the new releases themselves. In contrast to «Acolyte», the next project based on «Star Wars», and «Presumed Innocent», based on the novel of the same name by Scott Turow, the next seasons of the hit «The Boys» and «House of the Dragon» are coming up. «The Acolyte»

The series takes place in the last days of the Republic’s heyday, about 100 years before the events of the movie «Star Wars. Episode I: The Phantom Menace». In the story, former Padawan Osha reunites with her Jedi master Saul to investigate a series of mysterious crimes. But the heroes did not even suspect what a powerful and sinister force they would have to face.

Disney+ continues to either persistently expand the «Star Wars» universe in the format of miniseries or parasitize on the great legacy of George Lucas, it’s up to you. The main roles in the next project of the space franchise were played by Amandla Stenberg and the star of the hit «Squid Game» Lee Jung-jae.

«Becoming Karl Lagerfeld»

On June 7, the biographical drama «Becoming Karl Lagerfeld» will start, telling the story of the famous fashion designer’s rise in the world of Parisian fashion in the 70s of the last century.

Along with trendy music biopics, there are also stories about prominent representatives of the world of high fashion. As soon as Apple TV+ has finished showing «New Look», dedicated to Christian Dior, a story about Karl Lagerfeld will be released soon. The titular role of the famous fashion designer was taken on by Daniel Brühl.

«Presumed Innocent»

This crime thriller takes place at the turn of the 70s and 80s of the last century. After trying to resist the regime of Fidel Castro, Roman Compte is forced to leave Cuba and move to Miami. There he became the manager of a local hotel and at the same time a secret CIA agent. The hotel itself has become a place where extremely influential people gather, and with them — large flows of drugs and money.

«My Lady Jane»

It is the harsh 16th century. Young Lady Jane Grey miraculously escapes the executioner’s axe and goes on to lead a full life of fun, romance, and adventure.

«My Lady Jane» — is an adaptation of the 2016 New York Times bestseller of the same name by American writer Cynthia Hand. The latter set out to reimagine the tragic life of Jane Grey, who was Queen of England for 9 days and was eventually executed at the age of 17 because of her political beliefs. This is what it means to rewrite history in the truest sense.

«WondLa»

Eva is an energetic teenage girl who is raised in a bunker by a robotic caretaker named Mutra. On her 16th birthday, after an attack on the bunker, she finds herself on the surface of a strange alien-inhabited planet called Orbona. Eva embarks on a fascinating journey through the unknown world, where she is joined by the giant silent man Otto and the grumpy alien Rovender to help her find other people and her true home.

The plot of «WondLa» is based on the book trilogy by American artist and children’s author Tony DiTerlizzi — «Finding WondLa» (2010), «A Hero for WondLa» (2012) and «Battle for WondLa» (2014).

«Supacell»

Genre: adventure drama, superheroics

A group of seemingly ordinary black people from South London suddenly discover superheroic powers. According to the showrunner of the project, British rapper Rapman, his show will be radically different from the typical superheroics released from under the wing of Marvel or DC, and will focus on the dramatic aspects of the story.

«Power Book II: Ghost»

This series was the first of three spin offs of «Power», which had 6 seasons and was broadcast from 2014 to 2020. This storyline follows the son of James «Ghost» St. Patrick, Tariq, who, after the death of his father, tries to start life from scratch, away from the criminal empire of the deceased. However, the hero will have to plunge into the criminal world full of dangers after his mother is found guilty of killing the Ghost.

The fourth season of the show will be the last one and will consist of two parts: the first one will be released on Starz on June 7, and the second one will be released on the same channel on September 6.

«Transformers: Earthspark»

«Transformers: EarthSpark» introduces a new generation of Transformers — the first to be born on Earth. Events will take place in a small-town Wiki, Pennsylvania. Eric Kripke’s show is aimed at brutally mocking the superhero blockbusters from Marvel and DC and is intended to make a good joke about their overwhelming popularity. But it has already passed its peak, so it will be interesting to see «The Boys» in this environment.
