Right now, “Avengers: Doomsday” has a single, officially confirmed Marvel character — Doctor Doom played by Robert Downey Jr.. However, rumors about the rest of the cast are still swirling.
Earlier, reliable industry insider Jeff Snyder reported that Chris Evans will join the project as the Nomad, while another journalist, Daniel Richtman, recently wrote (via Fandom Wire) that Ana de Armas is in talks for one of the key roles—it’s not clear which character she might play or whether she’s close to sealing the deal.
Armas is known for her roles in “Knives Out” and “No Time to Die,” and soon we’ll see her in the “female incarnation of John Wick” in the movie “Ballerina”. The first trailer for the film appeared last month, and later rumors spread about extensive reshoots—so the quality of this work is still a big question.
Other rumors about the cast of “Avengers 5” include Tom Holland, the entire new “Fantastic Four” and “Thunderbolts”. Again — none have received official confirmation from Marvel. But if even half of these come true, the movie’s budget could balloon to incredible sizes—considering that Downey Jr. alone will make over $100 million for two movies (+box office bonuses), and the Russo brothers will bag $40 million per film.
Earlier insiders wrote that Marvel is considering bringing back Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts (it might seem like just rumors or speculation—however, remember that some previous MCU ideas laid out by journalists did come true); likewise, Josh Brolin has stated that he’s ready to reprise his role as Thanos in the new “Avengers” if Marvel offers “the right story.”
“Avengers: Doomsday” debuts in theaters in May 2026, and a year after that, we’re expecting the sequel titled “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
