Apple will release smart glasses and AirPods with cameras in 2027, — Mark Gurman

Apple’s smart glasses will be similar to Meta Ray-Ban, while the next AirPods will be equipped with cameras.

In the case of glasses, Apple wants to justify multimillion-dollar investments in research and development of visual intelligence Vision Pro by introducing the technology into additional products (it was also demonstrated to us during the iPhone 16 cameras). Apple’s potential device is not a full-fledged AR glasses with displays, but rather smart glasses with built-in cameras, speakers, and microphones, similar to Ray Ban by Meta, which are sold for $299+.

As for the headset itself, many users consider it too heavy for prolonged use, expensive ($3500), and prone to overheating, which puts the device in a niche status. It was also reported that interest in the headset has decreased since its launch and sales did not meet Apple’s expectations. Gurman also mentioned in the report plans for the next iterations of Vision Pro: a cheaper version for about $2000 may appear next year, and a second-generation headset with an updated processor is scheduled for 2026.

Apple also continues to think about creating AirPods with cameras — development known by the code name B798. The headphones are likely to be the same size as the current version, but will have low-resolution cameras and use artificial intelligence to help users with their daily routines.
