
The movie «Deadpool and Wolverine» was ranked 12th among the highest-grossing films in the history of the American box office, ahead of «Barbie».
Disney brought the comic book movie «Deadpool and Wolverine» back to 1,500 U.S. theaters last weekend. This brought an additional $679,000 to the total box office, which reached $636.3 million. Thus, the film surpassed «Barbie» ($636.238 million) and became the 12th highest-grossing film in the history of the US box office.
It is worth noting that «Barbie» directed by Greta Gerwig is still ahead at the global box office with $1.445 billion.
«Deadpool and Wolverine» starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman was released in July and immediately set several records. For example, the movie became the most profitable movie with an R-rating in history.
Currently, «Deadpool and Wolverine» is ranked second is among the highest-grossing films of the year with $1.335 billion in global grosses. Only the animated sequel «Thoughts inside out 2» by Disney and Pixar with $1.69 billion. In the global «Deadpool and Wolverine» ranking, it ranks 20th.
Among Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe films, «Deadpool and The Wolverine» ranks seventh, passing «Iron Man 3» ($1.215 billion). Only four Avengers movies, «Spider-Man, are ahead: Homecoming» and «Black Panther».
The director of «Deadpool and Wolverine» is Shawn Levy. This is the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to feature characters previously licensed to 20th Century Fox. Reynolds and Levy brought together numerous Fox-era heroes, including Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Chris Evans as the Torch Man of «Fantastic Four» and Wesley Snipes as Blade (he also broke the record for the longest career at Marvel).
