We have already written about the Gelius Tactical Navy smartwatch. And now we’ll talk about the Gelius GP-PK006 model for children. Just like the device above, this watch is budget-friendly, and it also has a rich set of features and a lot of parental control functions. Of course, there’s no getting away from the drawbacks, which in this case relate to the app. All the details, as always, are in the review below.

Packaging and contents
Gelius GP-PK006 comes in a compact turquoise box.

Inside is the watch itself with a film on the screen, a warranty card, a detailed and understandable manual in Ukrainian, a replaceable silicone strap, a plastic clip to open the SIM card slot and a short magnetic charging cable.
Design and materials
Gelius GP-PK006 has a rectangular shape with rounded corners and a plastic body. The colors are patriotic and also universal, as they suit both girls and boys.
On the front panel, we see relatively thick bezels, a front-facing camera in the upper left corner, and a touch-sensitive Home button below the screen. Below, triangular cutouts stand out on the case, behind which the speaker is located.
On the right side we can see the main function button and the SOS button, and a microphone between them. On the left side is a nano-SIM slot. At the bottom there are contacts for magnetic charging, the IMEI of the device and a QR code that must be scanned when activating the watch in the application.

The strap is 18 mm, silicone and has a metal clasp. Let me remind you that there is another one in the set, a replaceable one.”

Gelius GP-PK006 is quite thick, so it looks a bit too big on the hand of a first-grader. But in fact, it is lightweight, does not get in the way, and the child is comfortable wearing it.”

Of course, the pixels on the display are visible, but not as much as I expected. In general, for a children’s budget watch, the screen is adequate and unexpectedly with rich colors. And if in the case of the Gelius Tactical Navy its similar IPS screen was the biggest disadvantage, then in this case the display can’t be considered a disadvantage. It is there, it is large enough, and it is very strange to expect more from a children’s budget watch.
Features, functionality and interface
Gelius GP-PK006 runs on a single-core (ARM Cortex-R5) ASR3603S chip with a frequency of 832 MHz. The model has 192 MB of RAM and 128 MB of internal memory. It also has remote tracking via GSM+GPS+Wi-Fi, a 2 MP camera, accelerometer, pedometer, and IP67 water and dust protection. The latter means that the model can be worn in the rain or when washing hands, but it is not suitable for swimming.
Of course, the children’s watch has games: from solving simple math problems to arcade shooters and races. Of course, these games are unpretentious, but the child likes them. Especially pleasing is the presence of learning in a playful way through mathematical examples.
Gelius GP-PK006 can make and receive calls. For this purpose, a nano-SIM card is installed here, and there are three SOS numbers and 15 additional numbers in the phone book. The speaker is relatively loud, so it’s fine to talk on it. The microphone is also adequate, so the child can be heard well, and he understands and hears you without any problems. There is one ringtone for calls and the same one plays when the alarm goes off.
Controls are made with swipes and buttons on the case. Holding your finger on the screen for a few seconds brings up a menu to select the main watch face. There are six of them, they are different and quite interesting for children. And if necessary, there is an ascetic version on a black background. Swiping from the bottom up opens the pedometer menu. Swiping from the top down lowers the classic curtain, which contains the main information from the watch: charging status, signal strength, time, date and month, volume settings, screen brightness and access to the main functions of the watch. Swiping from right to left and left to right opens the main menu. There are Alarm, Settings, Stopwatch, Calculator, Games, Voice Chat, Album, Pedometer, Phonebook, Video Calls, Camera, Watchface.
Autonomy of Gelius GP-PK006
Gelius GP-PK006 is equipped with a 680 mAh battery. I did not find any information about the battery life, so I will write as it is. In manual watch mode, it works for six days with calls and games. In the automatic tracking mode, the battery life decreases to 4 days every hour, and if you track every ten minutes, you will have to charge it every two days. Charging itself takes up to two hours.” [gallery ids=”2046653,2046660
User experience
My six-year-old son and I liked the watch overall. It has a cool universal color, an adequate bright screen with pixels, a lot of functions, the ability to make calls and just dial the number with your fingers, the ability to make video calls, which children like the most. However, in this case, you need a good connection, because the module in the watch is probably weak, or the connection from lifecell, because even a simple picture from a 2 megapixel camera does not always work. That’s why the connection will be worse indoors and better outdoors. I asked my son what he liked about it and he said, “Everything, except that sometimes video calls are glitchy, because I like to talk like that.” That is, the child is happy, he plays on it, talks to me and my wife, calls his grandmothers, watches the time, etc.
As a parent, I’m annoyed by the ads in the app, as I mentioned above. Otherwise, it doesn’t look very nice, but that’s just my taste. I also think that an IPS screen is still not good for smartwatches, but some children’s models have TFT, so I’d rather have IPS, especially for the money. Also, there is no full-fledged flashlight in the case, like other competitors. In general, the main thing is that there are a lot of functions, including regular and video calls, voice messages, and child tracking. In peacetime, it would probably be a difficult ethical question, at least for me, whether parents should monitor their children like this. But during a full-scale war, when there is an air raid, and they are at school and you don’t know what’s going on, the watch allows you not only to call for the tenth time and find out if they have gone down to the school shelter (where sometimes, by the way, there is no reception), but also to control it just in case through the map and location function.
It should also be noted that the plastic screen is very scratchy, so the bundled film will be covered with specks in a few months or six months, and then it will have to be replaced, or the screen will be scratched. However, the main thing is that it’s there right away.
Price and competitors
Gelius GP-PK006 is sold with a price tag of 2215 hryvnias. In my opinion, this is a very adequate price. There are a lot of competitors in this segment, and they cost about the same. Of course, there are models a little cheaper or more expensive. However, the more affordable ones have half the screen resolution and are not waterproof, while the more expensive ones are equipped with a flashlight or have a slightly larger battery.
In the segment of children’s watches, you can pay attention to another model from the same manufacturer, and this is Gelius GP-PK001 (price from 1599 UAH). Also worthy of note are the Garmix PointPRO 200 and Garmix PointPRO 300 models with price tags starting at 3346 and 4790 hryvnias, respectively. There is also the more affordable ELARI FixiTime Lite (price from 999 UAH), as well as Canyon CNE-KW44 with a price tag of 2026 UAH.
