The most interesting new movies of March 2025

In March, it seems as if a thaw should come after a rather «dead» winter season. There are film debuts by Lesya Nikityuk and Lida Li, at least 18 Robert Pattinson movies for the price of one ticket, another blockbuster from the directors of the two most successful «Avengers» films, the Russo brothers, and new releases from Steven Soderbergh and David Cronenberg, etc. And how can we not mention the newest version of «Snow White» from Disney, which made a lot of noise long before the movie was released. «Dogs»

When Yana, a fierce careerist with an inflated ego, accidentally falls victim to a spell, her life is turned upside down. From now on, all the men she sleeps with turn into… dogs. In this regard, the heroine will not only have to learn to care for others, but also rethink her attitude to life.

Except for a cameo in a New Year’s comedy «The balance at December 31», «Dogs» became the film debut for Lesya Nikityuk. In addition to the mega-popular New Channel presenter, the trailer shows the faces of many other Ukrainian showbiz stars — actors Olga Sumskaya, Taras Tsymbalyuk, Artemiy Yegorov, Natalka Denysenko, Artur Logay, Elena Khalatkina, comedians Kirill Ganin, Anastasia Oruzhova, Danil Povar, and host and producer Yevgeny Taller.

DOROFEEVA is responsible for the main musical theme with a track «Murakami». The film will be released on March 6, but you can watch it in theaters now thanks to pre-premiere screenings that began on February 27.

In a desperate attempt to leave Earth, financially impoverished Mickey Barnes signs up to be a «expendable» — disposable clone worker on the human colonized ice world of Niflheim. The protagonist takes on several dangerous missions in which he is not expected to survive, so after each death his mind will be downloaded into a new body. During the next mission, one of the clones, Mickey 17, is mistakenly considered dead and replaced prematurely, but he finds his way back to the colony. The situation takes an unpredictable turn when Mickey 17 meets his 18th replacement.

In his new film, the Oscar-winning director of «Parasites», Pong Joon-ho, draws inspiration from Edward Ashton’s sci-fi novel «Mickey 7», which will hit bookstores in 2022. Here, from the South Korean filmmaker, you should definitely expect is a caustic satire on capitalism, and the lead actor Robert Pattinson — an interesting performance, as he has to transform into several characters at once. We also note the obvious analogies with the British film «Moon» with Sam Rockwell.

«Plankton: The Movie»

Having learned how to balance their personal and professional lives, they have never gone into much detail about their profession. The situation spirals out of control when George learns that Catherine is the main suspect in a treasonous act. The hero is faced with a difficult choice — whether to side with his beloved or his country.

Well, at least not «Black Doves» — and it’s already good. The spy thriller from Steven Soderbergh, with a good cast of Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett — sounds promising. The local plot looks like another version of the story in the spirit of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, so let’s see how interesting the on-screen duo of star performers will be. For Fassbender, by the way, this is his second consecutive spy project after the «The Agency».

«F*** Marry Kill»

Anderson and Milla Jovovich decided to finally move away from computer games. This time, they turned to George Martin’s short story of the same name, which is the basis for the movie. Jovovich’s partner on the set was Dave Batista.

«Blind Leave» is the debut feature film for director Valeria Fedeeva, as well as the first film role for popular singer Lida Li. Along with comedy and romance, the film promises to raise the issue of military adaptation to civilian life. The main roles are played by Tatiana Malkova and Daniel Salem, a fighter of the reconnaissance and sabotage unit «12 Ocean’s Friends».

«The Electric State»

The film will be directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, who, thanks to their successful Marvel blockbusters, need no introduction. In the film, viewers will see Millie Bobby Brown, who has long been working with Netflix, Chris Pratt, Ki Hui Kwan, Stanley Tucci, and will also hear the voices of Giancarlo Esposito and Woody Harrelson.

«Borderline»

It seems that in this comedy thriller, which is the debut of director Jimmy Worden, Ray Nicholson has taken on cosplay his famous father, playing the role of an unrestrained madman stalker. We mention madness for a reason, because nothing else but it from producer «Saltburn» and screenwriter «Cocaine Bear» is probably not worth waiting for. This is not the first time that I have played the role of a frightened victim after «Ready or Not» and «Azrael» Samara Weaving will speak.

«The Shrouds»

«The Shrouds» — a new horror film with elements of science fiction from the recognized master of the genre, in particular body horror, David Cronenberg. Famous faces gathered on the set — Guy Pearce, Vincent Cassel and Diane Kruger. For the latter two, this is their second consecutive collaboration after the recent «Saint-Exupéry», where the actors portrayed a married couple.

In an interview, Cronenberg described the film as very «personal» and «autobiographical». Its plot was inspired by the director’s own grief, provoked by the death of his wife Carolyn in 2017.

«Flight Risk»

This makes for an extremely tense flight. Judging by disappointing ratings of this movie, I have to say with regret that Mel Gibson has made a mediocre movie at most.

«Snow White»

A live-action adaptation of the classic Disney cartoon «Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs» from 1937, which, in turn, is based on the fairy tale of the same name by the Brothers Grimm, hardly needs a plot description. Much more interesting here is the information that, for example, the trailer collected more than a million dislikes on YouTube and the controversy and negative reactions online about many aspects of the upcoming film, including the choice of Rachel Zegler for the lead role, have not subsided.

All of this is reminiscent of the situation with Disney’s previous project of a similar kind — «The Little Mermaid», which also received a lot of hate before the movie’s release. Disney is very good at shaking things up.

Perhaps the characterization «a movie with Jason Statham» will be enough to get an idea of what kind of movie awaits us. But let’s also add that the script was written by guys who are well versed in old-school action movies — David Ayer and Sylvester Stallone — and is based on the novel «Levon’s Trade» (2014) by Chuck Dixon. Statham has worked with both filmmakers before, most recently — Eyre directed last year’s «The Beekeeper», and the actor shared the set with Sly «Expend4bles» a year earlier.

But later on, the heroine rethinks her attitude to what she had previously considered an unquestionable truth.

The new project from the well-known Studio «Kvartal 95», which gave the world «Servant of the People», is, as the authors of the film note, a kind of «vaccination against the Russian world». The brainwashing of Skabeeva will begin on March 27.
