September usually marks the beginning of a new TV season, so we can expect a lot of new releases on small screens, as well as the return of long-running shows that are already well recognized by viewers. In the first month of autumn, many interesting things are planned for release: French Zorro, return of favorite «Star Wars» characters in Lego format, «The Walking Dead», yes, again, as well as another confrontation between Marvel and DC projects, as if in the heyday of superheroics. As always, you can read more about each potentially noteworthy premiere of the month in the article below.

New series
«The Perfect Couple»
Genre: detective drama
Premiere date: September 5
Release: Netflix
Amelia Sachs is about to marry a wealthy member of the Winbury family, which is strongly disapproved of by the writer Greer Harrison Winbury, who is actually a member of the family. But when the bride’s dead body is found in the harbor on the day of the wedding, everyone involved in the celebration becomes a suspect.
The plot of «The Perfect Couple» is based on the novel of the same name by Elin Hildebrandt, and the set brought together star actors — Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning, Jack Reynor and others. The premiere is scheduled for September 5 on Netflix, when all 6 episodes of the show will be released simultaneously.
«Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist»
Genre: crime drama
Premiere date: September 5
Release: Peacock
In 1970, in Atlanta, Muhammad Ali was able to return to the professional ring after a long break, where he met Jerry Quarry. A major robbery took place, which would later become one of the most notorious crimes in the state.
This story is based on the 2020 podcast of the same name. In the film, viewers will have the opportunity to see such well-known performers as Kevin Hart, Terrence Howard, Don Cheadle, who replaced Howard in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jasm Rhodes, as well as Samuel L. Jackson and Chloe Bailey. Who you may remember from last year’s «The Little Mermaid».».
«Zorro»
Genre: action adventure
Premiere date: September 6
Release: Paramount+
After finding an ancient relic with the power to rewrite reality, a boy named Sig Gribling seeks to solve the problem of change with the help of an elusive Jedi that everyone has long forgotten.
This miniseries is based on the Lego Star Wars toy series, which, in turn, is based on the cult franchise created by George Lucas long ago. Anthony Daniels, Ahmed Best, Billy Dee Williams, and Mark Hamill, respectively, did not hesitate to voice iconic characters such as C-3PO, Jar Jar Binks, Lando Calrissian, and Luke Skywalker.
«American Sports Story»
Genre: sports anthology
Premiere date: September 17
Release: FX
«American Sports Story» will be the fourth installment of the American History media franchise and will tell the story of famous athletes. The first season of the show focuses on the rise and fall of former NFL player Aaron Hernandez, who was convicted of murder and eventually found dead in his cell.
«Agatha All Along»
Genre: superhero comedy
Premiere date: September 18
Release: Disney+
At the end of the series «WandaVision» (2021), the witch Agatha Harkness is trapped in Westview, New Jersey. But she manages to free herself with the help of a curious Gothic teenager, after which the heroine tries to regain her lost power.
It’s not hard to guess, «Agatha All Along» — a retro sitcom spin off «VandaVizhen» that no one asked for. Despite the fact that success relative to the recent «Deadpool & Wolverine» it’s too early to talk about a way out of the crisis for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Something tells us that the new series will not improve the situation, and minor characters like Taserface from «Guardians of the Galaxy» not that interesting.
«The Penguin»
Genre: crime drama
Premiere date: September 19
Release: HBO
The series takes place a week after the events of the movie «Batman» (2022). This is the story of the rise to power of Oswald «Oz» Cobblepot, also known as the Penguin, in the Gotham underworld.
«The Penguin» like the previous show on the list from a competitor studio, it is a spin-off, in particular «Batman» with Robert Pattinson, in which Colin Farrell, made up beyond recognition, returns to the role of the DC Comics supervillain. It’s probably not worth emphasizing once again that this show looks much more interesting than Marvel’s Witchcraft.
«Twilight of the Gods»
Genre: animated fantasy
Premiere date: September 19
Release: Netflix
In a small village, King Leif and Queen Sigrid are about to celebrate their wedding. But when a tragedy strikes, the bride is out for revenge. She joins forces with a seer and a dwarf and sets out on a journey to find Thor to take merciless revenge.
No sooner had the bewildered viewer recovered from the 6.5-hour mockery called «director’s cut of “Rebel Moon”» as the tireless Zack Snyder once again tries to conquer the Netflix audience, this time as one of the showrunners of an ambitious animated fantasy. The local plot is based on Scandinavian mythology.
«Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story»
Genre: maniacal thriller
Premiere date: September 19
Release: Netflix
«The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story» is the second season of the now maniacal anthology «Monsters». The viewer will see the titular brothers who killed their parents. It is worth mentioning that the first season of this series was «Damer», which received mediocre reviews from critics but was much more popular with audiences, and the lead actor Evan Peters was awarded a «Golden Globe» for his work.
«Brilliant Minds»
Genre: medical drama
Premiere date: September 23
Release: NBC
The plot of the new medical drama from NBC «Brilliant Minds» is inspired by the books «The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Stories from Medical Practice» and «An Anthropologist on Mars» by world-renowned neuroscientist Oliver Sacks. The lead role is played by Zachary Quinto, who previously starred as Spock in the cult franchise «Star Trek».
«Murder in a Small Town»
Genre: detective drama
Premiere date: September 24
Release: Fox
«Murder in a Small Town» is adapted from L.R. Wright’s series of detective novels about detective Carl Alberg. He investigates murders in Gibsons, British Columbia. The cast includes Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk as librarian Cassandra, who becomes Alberg’s love interest, as well as James Cromwell, Stana Katic, Maya Lowe, Savonna Spracklin, Aaron Douglas and Fritzie-Clevans Destin in supporting roles.
«Grotesquerie»
Genre: horror, drama
Premiere date: September 25
Release: FX
Detective Lois Tryon must work with her sister Megan to find out the cause of a series of heinous crimes that affect their entire community and the characters’ personal lives.
«Doctor Odyssey»
Genre: medical drama
Premiere date: September 26
Release: ABC
It’s a story about Max Bankman, a physician who becomes a ship’s doctor on a luxury cruise ship. The show was created by the same people who worked on «Grotesquerie» — – a team of showrunners consisting of Ryan Murphy, John Robin Beitz, and Joe Bakken (in fact, the September repertoire includes many projects created under Murphy’s direction).
The cast also includes well-known faces — Joshua Jackson, who has already played a doctor in the recent «Dr. Death» and also made a name for himself in the highly rated science fiction «Fringe»; and Don Johnson, who needs no further introduction.
Continuation of the series
«Slow Horses»
Genre: spy thriller, black comedy
Premiere date: September 4
Release: Apple TV+
Season: 4
Earlier this month, Apple TV+ comes up trumps, releasing the fourth season of its hit spy show «Slow Horses». The continuation of the adventures of Jack Lamb and his dubious squad is scheduled for release on September 4, when the debut 2 of 8 episodes will start.
«The Old Man»
Genre: detective drama, thriller

«Frasier»
Genre: sitcom
Premiere date: September 19
Release: Paramount+
Season: 2

This project is a revival of the sitcom, which had 11 seasons and aired on NBC from 1993 to 2004. Kelsey Grammer, who made his debut in the title role back in the third season of «Cheers» back in 1984, is back in business.
«From»
Genre: science fiction horror
Premiere date: September 22
Release: MGM+
Season: 3
The third season of the sci-fi horror «From», which starts on September 22, will be a continuation of the cliffhanger of the second season. Escaping from the trap will become a very real possibility as the true nature of the mysterious city comes to the fore, and the townspeople will get a chance to confront the countless horrors that surround them.
«The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon»
Genre: post-apocalyptic drama, zombie horror
Premiere date: September 29
Release: AMC
Season: 2
The second season of one of the spinoffs of AMC’s flagship show «The Walking Dead», «Daryl Dixon», was subtitled «The Book of Carol». It aims to reunite the characters of Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride — Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier, respectively, on the screen.
Actually, McBride’s character appeared at the end of the first season, which was broadcast last fall. It is also worth noting that the show was renewed for a third season in July, which, unlike both of its predecessors, will be filmed in sunny Spain.
