HBO and Max CEO Casey Bloys has revealed details of the production of a new series based on the world-famous Harry Potter book saga.
The creative team is now focused on writing the script and searching for actors to play the main roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Casting of young talents began in September this year. According to Variety’s sources, actor Mark Rylance can play Dumbledore.
«The premiere is tentatively scheduled for early 2027. However, don’t take this as a final date, because we are just starting to work on the project», Bloys said during the HBO press conference.
The series team is considering filming the first two seasons in a row. This will help avoid a noticeable difference in the age of the young actors.
«The period from 11 to 13 years old — is a significant leap in children’s development. It is easier to cope with the difference between 13 and 15 years», — explained the HBO executive.
When asked about the annual release of seasons, Bloys said that such a schedule would be difficult to implement. The final decision will depend on the readiness of the scripts.
