A month ago, it seemed that the movie about the new «Captain America» with Anthony Mackie has the final version (after considerable delays and serious reshoots), but the actors’ words dispel these hopes.
According to World of Reel, Giancarlo Esposito, said that he will join «additional» — shootings next week, and that’s very surprising, given that the film is due to be released on February 14, 2025.
As a reminder, Captain America: A Brave New World was originally scheduled to debut in July 2024, while filming was actually completed a year earlier in June. However, after test screenings of an early version of the film, it was decided to «reshoot it on a large scale» with at least «three major action scenes» being re-shoot in May-August 2024 in Atlanta. Prior to that, in December, Marvel hired screenwriter Matthew Orlock to write «additional material» with new characters.
The next test screenings took place in September (and some details of the plot were leaked) — but, according to insider Jordan Rumi, the first reactions described the movie as «insignificant» and «flat» (So it’s no surprise that Marvel has taken on old reshoots).
It should also be borne in mind that the film is already quite risky, given the change of the main actor and the production budget stretched to $350 million. At the same time, the cast includes a whole bunch of stars, which can potentially attract the viewer — in addition to Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Harrison Ford, Shira Haas and Tim Blake Nelson appear here.
Marvel removed «Blade» with Mahershala Ali from the schedule — now the movie has no release date
