Netflix has shown a trailer for the spy thriller «Black Doves» starring Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw.

The series is set in Christmas London. The plot centers on Helen Webb (Keira Knightley), an intelligent and devoted wife and mother who also works as a professional spy. For ten years, she has been passing on the secrets of her politician husband to a secret organization called «Black Doves». After the murder of her lover Jason (Andrew Cogie), the organization’s head, the mysterious Reed, asks Helen’s longtime friend Sam (Ben Whishaw) to take care of her safety. Together, they begin to investigate Jason’s murder and uncover a massive conspiracy that links London’s underworld to a future geopolitical crisis.
Joe Barton, the creator of «Geary/Haji» and «Project Lazarus», wrote the script for six episodes. Netflix has already ordered the second season of the show. The project was directed by Alex Gabassi, known for his work on «The Crown», and Lisa Gunning. The series also stars Andrew Cogie and Sarah Lancashire.
The series will premiere on Netflix on December 5.
