A game in the world of George Martin’s Game of Thrones: Kingsroad received a demo version

Game of Thrones: Kingsroad received a demo version that will be available for only a week. The game graphics are not very impressive, but it is not surprising.

On Steam, ongoing Next Fest with hundreds of demos, one of which was the game Kingsroad from the universe «Game of Thrones» George Martin. Seven kingdoms — from big cities to the wilds beyond the Wall, will be available in the story-driven open-world role-playing game.

During battles, you can forget about automatic combinations, as it is important to dodge, block, and parry. Netmarble Studio promises challenging and tactical battles. In Kingsroad, you will have to study the behavior of your opponents, use chain attacks, and choose the appropriate strategy.

However, the graphics of the demo version leave much to be desired and look outdated. The picture above is a screenshot from Steam, so you can see the difference between it and the screenshots from the demo.

The textures of the characters in the cutscenes are sometimes better, sometimes much worse. The wounds created by the white walkers’ magic on the living corpses do not look detailed. But this is not surprising, because the game is developed primarily for mobile devices. Therefore, it is not a fact that Netmarble will significantly improve the picture quality before the final release.

Kingsroad offers three classes for different play styles. The knight is a warrior in heavy armor who relies on powerful attacks and defense. The mercenary is a versatile character with strength and maneuverability, and the assassin relies on combinations and evasion with his blades. Each class has unique skills, so the choice of character will affect your play style.

South Korean developer Netmarble Games has another MMORPG project — Lineage 2: Revolution. The game has become one of the most profitable on the mobile gaming market. The studio also released Seven Knights, BTS World, Marvel: Future Fight and a number of others. All games have in common that they were developed for mobile phones. Some have been ported to other platforms or have PC versions. So, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is no exception.

The demo is available only during the «Festival of New Products» on Steam — until March 3. The exact release date of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, but it is expected to be released in the second half of 2025. In Steam you can add the game to your wishlist for now.
