We already have the case, now we are waiting for the console itself.
Dbrand is a company known for producing protective cases for Steam Deck and other devices, unveiled a 3D rendering based on the actual dimensions of the Nintendo Switch 2 console, obtained by 3D scanning a real sample.
Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz reported The Verge reported that the width of the console with Joy-Con controllers attached will be 270 mm, and 200 mm without them. The device will be 116 mm high and 14 mm thick.
The design of Nintendo Switch 2 has evolved from the OLED model, retaining the best features of its predecessor. The console will receive an enlarged 8-inch screen instead of the 7.2-inch screen in the OLED model and 6.2-inch screen in the original version. An additional «C» button will appear on the right Joy-Con controller (possibly for recording). The developers have changed the shape of the detachable controllers, giving them a more pronounced bend and magnetic attachment.
The console will have two USB-C ports on the top and bottom, as well as a wide U-shaped stand, similar to the improved version of Switch OLED. According to preliminary data, an 8-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080p will be used instead of the OLED panel.
Dbrand’s Killswitch case for Switch 2 inherits the best features of previous Steam Deck models. Due to the peculiarities of detachable Joy-Con controllers, the developers have created a collapsible design with a turquoise cord for fixing. The specifications of the console provided by the company coincide with the parameters of the 3D mockup that SwitchUp YouTube channel previously received.
According to preliminary data, Nintendo Switch 2 may go on sale by the end of 2024, although Nintendo has officially set a deadline for disclosing details about the console until March 2025.
