Often, compact computers are placed in conditions of a lack of workspace. But installing the Apple Mac mini M4 will be more difficult, despite the smaller size.
To turn on or off new Mac mini using a hardware button, you’ll have to lift it up or move it away if it was standing upright. This is not very convenient to do even when the computer is just standing on a table, and even more difficult in more exotic locations.
It is clear that the button is not used that often, but this is obviously not the best location for the owner of the control. A narrow horizontal or vertical niche can make this manipulation impossible if there is no place to move the device.
The button is not on the round base of the case, but on a higher plane, in one of the corners. However, this does not make it possible to use it without lifting the Mac mini. Given this location, it may seem more convenient to disconnect the power cable for an emergency reboot (if the back side is accessible, of course).
Previously, the Mac mini’s power button was in the right rear corner of the device when viewed from the front — not the most convenient, but still accessible location. Apple’s love for the bottom of devices is also felt in Magic Mouse that retained the bottom connector for charging.
