On the night of March 3, the 97th ceremony of the world’s main film award took place — «Oscar-2025», which was traditionally organized in the theater «Dolby», but this yearwith a new host, Conan O’Brien, who replaced Jimmy Kimmel.
A movie about Russian immigrants «Anora»became the winner of this year’s film awards with five awards: Best Picture, Director, Editing, Original Screenplay and an acting award for Mikey Madison. The Russian actors did not win any awards, but they calmly went to the main stage to pick up the main statuette of the film award

Prior to that, the host Daryl Hannah took the stage and shouted «Glory to Ukraine», Adam Sandler (perhaps unintentionally) ignored the dress code of the ceremony, replacing his tuxedo with a sports jacket and shorts, and Adrian Brody, who won the award for Best Actor for the second time, prepared an important speech:
«I am here again to represent the lingering trauma and consequences of war, systematic oppression, anti-Semitism and racism. I pray for a healthier, happier and more inclusive world. And I believe that if the past teaches us anything, it is a reminder not to let hatred go unchecked».

The «Brutalist» itself took home three awards in total: in addition to acting, for cinematography and original music. While «Dune 2» received two statuettes for Best Sound and Special Effects, as did «Emilia Perez», who originally claimed victory in 13 nominations (in addition to acting, there is a statuette for the best song).

«The Incredibles. The Last Cat on Earth» won Best Animated Feature, beating out the hit «Inside Out 2» and the much-hyped «Wild Robot» — and this is the first victory for Latvia at the «Oscars». Whereas the documentary about Ukraine «The Porcelain War» lost in the corresponding category to the film about the war in Gaza «No Country for Old Men»

Meanwhile, Kieran Culkin («True Grit») was recognized as Best Supporting Actor, and Zoe Saldana («Emilia Perez») won the award in the respective female category.
