Apple has announced a new iMac with M4, and with it — updated versions of the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad accessories with USB-C instead of Lightning.
The transition of accessories from Lightning to USB-C, which has been used in the keyboard and mouse since 2015, was somewhat late — given that all Mac desktops and laptops switched to USB-C as the main connection port by 2018, followed by iPads and, starting in 2023, iPhones and AirPods (the transition was made at the request of EU regulators).
You can order new USB-C accessories from the Apple Store as separate products — available black and white versions. In general, prices remained unchanged compared to their predecessors with Lightning: the updated Magic Mouse starts at $99, while the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad will cost $199 and $149, respectively.
No other design changes seem to have occurred — despite predictions, the port on the Magic Mouse is still is located at the bottom of the device.
The iPhone SE is currently the last major Apple device with a Lightning port, However, this may soon change.
