Cyberpunk 2077 received a major update 2.2: what has changed in the game

CD Projekt Red has announced a surprise update for Cyberpunk 2077 during a festive stream on the occasion of the game’s fourth anniversary on December 10. Patch 2.2 CDPR was developed in collaboration with Virtuos studio, which specializes in post-release updates for big games.

The update added a number of significant technical and gameplay innovations. The main highlight is CrystalCoat technology, which is now available for cars from premium manufacturers: Herrera, Mizutani, Quadra, and Villefort (and Rayfield). Car owners will be able not only to change the color, but also to copy color schemes from other cars using the TwinTone system. Changing the color of the car while driving will also allow you to escape from police pursuit.

Ten new models have been added to the Knight City fleet, including the legendary Mizutani Shion in several modifications and the powerful Quadra Type-66. Owners of the Phantom Liberty add-on will have access to the exclusive Villefort Deleon V410-S Coupe and Mahir Supron FS3-T.

Johnny will now occasionally appear in the passenger seat when V is driving to comment and react to what is happening.

The character editor has been enriched with hundreds of new customization options. Players will be able to choose from 32 eye shades, 18 lip makeup options, and 17 nail colors. The developers have added new tattoos, scars, and cyberimplants to create a unique look. Particularly noteworthy is the new «slider from normal to punk», which will help you quickly generate the desired character style.

The photo mode has received a significant update with a free camera and the ability to add up to three NPCs from twenty available characters. Advanced lighting and effects settings have been added, and the SmartFrames system will allow you to decorate V’s apartment with your own photos. PC users additionally received support for the ultra-wide format for creating panoramic shots.

The technical part of the update includes optimization for the latest Intel Arrow Lake processors, which can increase performance by up to 33%. The developers also fixed numerous bugs in quests, improved character animations and sound design. Owners of Razer devices have received new Chroma effects for romantic scenes and events in the Phantom Liberty expansion pack.

We should also mention the new secrets of Knight City — the developers have added several secrets that players will have to find on their own.
