Samsung announced the Galaxy S25 Edge slim smartphone at its Unpacked event last month, but details about the device are still scarce. However, one thing is clear: early leaks turned out to be far from reality, as the design of the smartphone is significantly different from what was expected, and its thickness is much less than expected.
Last year, there were reports that Samsung would release a «slim» version of the Galaxy S25 to get ahead of Apple and their upcoming iPhone 17 Air. In January, leaks showed that the device would be similar to the entire S25 line and would have a 6.4 mm thick body — only slightly thinner than the rest of the models. However, this information was quickly denied.
The official announcement of the Galaxy S25 Edge revealed that the smartphone will only have two cameras instead of the three that previous rumors had suggested. Samsung also hinted that the thickness of the device will be «about 6 mm», which is less than the previously announced 6.4 mm.
Rumors attribute a thickness of 6.3 mm to the upcoming iPhone 17 Air. Probably, to get ahead of the competition in this parameter, they had to make the S25 Edge even thinner.

Updated data from SmartPrix and @OnLeaks indicate that Samsung has ditched the 6.4mm version, instead creating a 158.2×75.5×5.84mm device. No other sources have yet confirmed this information, although SmartPrix insists that their previous predictions were «mostly» correct.
Other leaks regarding the Galaxy S25 Edge are more in line with this slim design. According to Ice Universe, the smartphone will have a 200-megapixel HP9 sensor and will be powered by a 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite. However, battery life could be an issue, as the Edge is likely to get a 3,900 mAh battery only. In comparison, the base Galaxy S25 has a 4,000 mAh battery with a smaller 6.2-inch screen. While other manufacturers offer models with a battery capacity of 5000-6000 mAh.
Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy S25 Edge in April 2025.
