The Google Photos app has a new useful feature that will be appreciated by those who like to take self-portraits. It is the ability to quickly mirror existing photos.
To use this new feature, you simply tap the «Edit» icon on any image. Then select «Crop» and click on the «Flip» icon. After that, all you have to do is click the «Save» button and you’re done.
This feature is most useful for selfies, which most phones automatically mirror. Sometimes that’s fine, but other times you may want to have an accurate view of what you saw in the viewfinder. Some camera apps have both options to choose from, but for those that don’t, you can now easily fix that in Google Photos.
As with all edits made in Google Photos, you can choose to save the flipped/reflected image as a copy, ensuring that you keep the original as well. Or you can simply modify the original directly.
Note that this mirroring feature is currently only available for photos. Another limitation is that it only works on Android devices. Perhaps over time, its availability will be expanded to other platforms.
