It turns out that in addition to the movie «Predator: Badlands», 20th Century Studios has planned another secret film in the franchise for 2025.
«Predator: Badlands» will be released on November 7, 2025 (on the date on which the restart was planned «Blade»), while before that, another «Predator» — secret film will debut, which has never been announced by the studio before. According to 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell, both films will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg — but the «secret» project will most likely be intended only for streaming.
«After Prey was successful, Dan came and said he didn’t want a second one. I asked him, ‘So what are we going to do?’ And he came up with a bunch of crazy but really cool ideas,” Asbell says. «Two of them will be released next year. I can’t talk about the other one yet».
Asbell added that «Predator: Badlands» — is «science fiction, but not the kind everyone thinks of», while the studio has slightly different plans for the second «Predator» (which they won’t say).
Given franchise renaissance «Alien» after output «Romulus», many fans have been wondering whether to expect a new «Alien vs Predator» crossover, and here’s what Asbell has to say:
«Probably, but it’s not going to be what you think, that’s the thing. It’s not going to be just a title called Alien vs. Predator. If we do, we will organically combine two franchises and characters that are beloved by the audience».
As a reminder, 20th Century Studios also announced the sequel to the movie «Alien: Romulus» — probably again under the leadership of Fede Alvarez.
As for «Predator: Badlands»— is the eighth film in the «Predator» franchise (and the sixth in the main series), with Elle Fanning taking on one of the main roles. Details of the plot are still being kept secret, but rumor has it that it will be about two sisters traveling in the wasteland and learning about their horrific past.
