Marvel will start filming «Avengers: Doomsday» in a few weeks in the UK — what do we know about the plot and cast?

The new «Avengers» movie has received an important update, which suggests that we can expect the first footage — according to The Wrap,  «Doomsday» will start filming next month in the UK.

From what is known today: Marvel has planned two new films at once and, in addition to «Doomsday», will release a direct sequel called «Secret Wars». Both films directed by the Russo brothers («Avengers: Infinity War» and «Avengers: Endgame») based on scripts by MCU veteran Stephen McFeely.

The cast

Robert Downey Jr. will return to Marvel, but this time — as the villain Dr. Doom, who in the comics was the sworn enemy of The Fantastic Four. This team of superheroes after debut in his own movie will also join the new «Avengers» in its entirety, which is, as a reminder: Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm / Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm / The Flash) and Ebon Moss-Bacrack (Ben Grimm / The Creature).

Benedict Cumberbatch, who originally stated that his but will not appear in «Doomsday», is still involved in both films. We also expect on the appearance of Captain America Anthony Mackie, who will allegedly lead the new Avengers.

Majors himself later stated that Dr. Doom’s choice for «Avengers» instead of Kang «broke his heart».

Given the general direction of the Multiverse Saga, we can expect the new films to continue the concept of invasions and the seeping of realities into each other, and eventually the start of another multi-universal war.

Release date

Even before the start of filming, both films received official release dates: «Avengers: Day of Judgment» will debut in theaters on May 1, 2026, while «Secret Wars» will be released exactly one year later.
