New intrigue from Capcom: Resident Evil 9 page on Metacritic with no mention of the PC version

Despite the absence of an official announcement from Capcom, the Metacritic website appeared page of Resident Evil 9 (RE9), the ninth installment of the cult survival horror franchise. This may indicate that the developer is preparing to present the long-awaited game soon.

However, the platforms listed on the page include only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. There is a possibility that Capcom may postpone the release of RE9 on personal computers.

According to rumors, Resident Evil 9 should come out in 2025, so this year’s announcement would have helped create even more excitement around the project. However, the absence of PC and Xbox Series S among the target platforms on Metacritic may upset some fans of the series.

A similar situation is observed with GTA 6 from Rockstar Games, which will also not have a simultaneous release on PC and consoles. Presumably, Capcom has decided to focus on optimizing RE9 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, given rumors about the open world in the game.

We remind you that the previous open world from Capcom in Dragon’s Dogma 2 faced performance issues due to the multi-platform release. So the developer can release RE9 on consoles first, and then port it to PC.

It is worth noting that the information on Metacritic is not final and may be updated later.

Resident Evil is a cult survival horror video game franchise created by the Japanese company Capcom. The first game in the series was released in 1996 on PlayStation and gained immense popularity due to its tense atmosphere, puzzles, and fresh approach to the gameplay. Since then, the series has expanded to dozens of games, including main titles and spin-offs, and has been adapted into movies, animation, and comics.
