Nintendo Switch 2 is officially announced — release is coming soon

Just now, the official announcement of Nintendo Switch 2 appeared on YouTube. The company thoroughly demonstrated the console and announced the date of the Nintendo Direct event, during which the release will take place.

Thus, Nintendo Direct starts on April 2, and the Nintendo Switch 2 console will be publicly presented. The video shows an enlarged screen, changes in the design of the controllers and the console itself, as well as additional accessories.

The trailer demonstrates the design of the Nintendo Switch 2 in the finest details. In the video, lasting over two minutes, the first Nintendo Switch gradually transforms into the new version, emphasizing all the changes.

The first thing visible is the increased screen size, as well as changes on the edges of the body, including USB Type-C ports on the top and bottom, power and volume buttons, speakers, and other components. The next detail is a built-in stand, which allows for positioning the enlarged console on a table at various angles.

Next, Nintendo showcases the change in controllers, which become black but retain inserts of traditional color. Notably, an additional button appears on the right. Eventually, the controllers attach to the body, and we see that the sides of the console also match these colors.

In the assembled state, the Nintendo Switch 2 is black, with colored rings around the joysticks. Shortly thereafter, it can be seen from the back, as well as with a game running.

Here, it’s visible that the screen is actually smaller than one might think by looking at its bezels in the off state. Then, the video shows the dock for the console and a demonstration of an accessory for comfortable gaming on an external screen.

On the frame comparing both generations of the Nintendo Switch, there is an important announcement about the new console’s compatibility with physical and digital copies of games from its predecessor.
