
Director Christopher Nolan is working on a film adaptation of Homer’s epic poem «Odyssey», written in the eighth century BC. According to a well-known Hollywood insider Jeff Snyder, this film will be the most expensive in Nolan’s career.

The film’s star-studded cast includes Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong’o. Attracting such a cast will cost Universal Pictures, which is overseeing the project, a considerable amount of money, but the exact budget figures have not been disclosed.
Currently, The Dark Knight Rises is considered to be Nolan’s most expensive film: The Dark Knight Rises» with a budget of $250 million. For comparison, «Inception» cost $160, and the recent «Oppenheimer» — $100 million.
The «Odyssey» tells the story of King Odysseus of Ithaca and his perilous ten-year journey home after the Trojan War, full of trials and encounters with mythical creatures and gods. It is not known whether the director will stick to the classic plot, as the details of the movie are kept secret.
The premiere of «Odyssey» by Christopher Nolan is scheduled for July 17, 2026.
