Sony has shared new details about Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which cover many aspects of the game.
The first thing that catches your eye in the post PlayStation — is a description «of a large environment full of secrets». Each environment is unique, with dangerous areas and challenging routes. All of them create challenges for Sam as he moves through the world.
The game will allow you to avoid direct battles, but if you have to — the player will have a choice. In Death Stranding 2, you can attack enemies aggressively, act covertly, or avoid conflicts altogether. This applies to both ordinary people and otherworldly threats. How exactly the battle system will work has not yet been revealed, but this approach is reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid with freedom of action.
The sequel to Death Stranding will continue the story of the original and Sam «on a new journey». Fans have been warned to «expect the unexpected», which could mean anything from mind-blowing plot twists to unique gameplay mechanics. In the previous trailer, it became clear that the new part promises to be just as strange.
One of the most mysterious moments of the announcement is the Social Strand system, which returns in a new form. PlayStation stated that the actions of «users will affect how other players interact with the game world, and vice versa». It is not yet known what this means in practice, but the phrase «leave your mark» hints at a deeper influence of users on each other’s world through the network.
Kojima announced Death Stranding 2 was back in December 2022 at The Game Awards. The trailer showed the return of Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, and other actors. The sequel to Sam’s story is expected to be released in 2025, so The game is one of the most anticipated.
In addition to Death Stranding 2, Hideo Kojima is working on two other major projects. The first one is OD, a mysterious psychological horror he is developing with Jordan Peele. The second is a movie based on Death Stranding, but it will not be a simple adaptation of the game. The Creator promises something that we have not yet seen.
