Pros data SteamDB, the digital platform of Steam, has set a historical record for the number of video games released. Developers have posted 18,825 new projects, which is 30% more than last year’s figure of 14,311.
The largest increase was in the category of single-player games — 14,300 new releases, while multiplayer projects appeared a little more than two thousand. The category of casual games received 8,700 projects, indie games — 8,600, and action games — 7,300.

Developers created first-person games more often — 3500 projects, while third-person games accounted for only 2000 releases.
SteamDB recorded that more than 14,800 new projects failed to attract the minimum number of players to unlock the platform’s basic features. These games are not included in user collections and the trophy system.
Steam also set a record for the number of simultaneous users — more than 39 million players were online in early December.
