Tesla suspends delivery of Cybertruck – parts fall off on the move

According to Tesla’s delivery agents, Cybertruck deliveries are currently suspended. The reason is that they are holding back» all shipments due to reports from owners that some parts are falling off the bulletproof» electric pickup truck while it is in motion.

Many Tesla Cybertruck customers share their experiences on forums and social media: their scheduled deliveries are postponed without any specific explanation. On the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, at least 8 users have already reported that their vehicles were not delivered at the scheduled time. Even more complaints have been posted on social networks X (Twitter) and Facebook.

Most customers receive an explanation from Tesla representatives that the delivery has been suspended due to the so-called «control hold».

Typically, a «control hold» occurs when an automaker discovers a problem with new cars and temporarily stops deliveries to fix defects and avoid a massive recall of cars already sold.

However, in this case, many owners don’t even know what the problem is. Only one of them shared a screenshot from the Tesla app, where a company representative said that the delay was due to the Cybertruck’s decorative roof lining, the Cantrail trim.

What is Cantrail trim and why is it a problem?

Cantrail trim is a decorative overlay that covers the junction of the roof and side panels of a car. It does not carry a structural load, but only performs an aesthetic function.

Despite the fact that Tesla advertised the Cybertruck as a «bulletproof» electric pickup truck with «exoskeleton», its design is more like a conventional unibody body. This means that most of the external elements are not part of the supporting frame, but are simply attached to the body in the form of overlays. Some of these overlays have proven to be extremely fragile.

This is not the first time owners have complained about parts falling off. In June last year, Tesla recalled 11 thousand Cybertrucks due to a similar problem – some body elements were coming off or falling off while driving.

Now, photos of the Cybertruck’s front panel, which is attached only with glue, are circulating on social media.

The previous recall was also associated with adhesive issues that led to body parts falling off.

Tesla’s technical documentation states that the top of the cantrail trim is attached to special brackets.

Last year a Tesla fan received a Cybertruck to replace the broken one, but the second car also broke down almost immediately. And sometimes owners have to modify the car with a drill.
