HBO continues to build the «adult» cast of the upcoming Harry Potter series, and according to DeadlineBritish actor and comedian Nick Frost is the latest candidate to come close to a deal.

Nick Frost is set to play the role of Rubeus Hagrid, a Hogwarts forester and teacher of magical creatures, portrayed by the late Robbie Coltrane in the WB series.

The actor is known for his frequent collaborations with Simon Pegg in the films «A Zombie Called Shaun» and «Alien Paul». The writer herself is involved in the project as an executive producer, Francesca Gardiner is the scriptwriter, and Mark Milod («Game of Thrones») will direct several episodes.

The first season is to debut in 2027and filming will start this summer. Actors for the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione are still being sought — showrunners reported that the casting was listened to by over 32,000 children.
