«The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms»: George Martin has watched all episodes of the series and says it’s a «adaptation worthy of a reasonable person»

George R.R. Martin praised the upcoming spin-off «Game of Thrones» — series «Knight of the Seven Kingdoms».

He said that he had watched all 6 episodes of the upcoming show and called it «an adaptation worthy of a reasonable person» (there is a reference to of Martin’s scandalous statements about the second season of «House of the Dragon»).

«IraShowrunner Ira Parker and his team finished the first season a few months ago and moved on to post-production,» Martin writes. «I just watched all six episodes (though the last two were in rough cut) and loved them. Dunk and Egg have always been my favorite characters, and the actors we’ve found to portray them are incredible. The rest of the cast is also amazing».

The «Knight of the Seven Kingdoms» series is based on George Martin’s «The Tales of Dunk and Egg» series of novels and will take place a century before the events of «Game of Thrones».

«It’s one of the best stories I’ve ever written and I’m so glad the crew and our amazing cast pulled it off,» Martin adds.

The writer also clarified that «The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms» will debut «at the end of the year» (in the fall or December), despite the fact that HBO has previously talked about the summer premiereand hinted at a second season:

«Meanwhile, we move on to The Sworn Sword, the second story of Dunk and Egg».

Earlier, George Martin noted that «90% of the series’ events would take place in a field with tents», but despite a smaller budget than in ««House of the Dragon»» or «Game of Thrones», the series has «great scenery» and will offer some interesting battles.

As a reminder, Peter Claffey (Dunk) and Dexter Son Ansel (Egg) took on the lead roles in «A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms», and they were joined by Finn Bennett (Aeryon Targaryen), Bertie Carvel (Baelor Targaryen), Tanzin Crawford (Tansell), Daniel Ings (Lionel Baratheon), and Sam Spruell (Maekar Targaryen).

Martin and Ira Parker («The Sympathizer», «House of the Dragon») are showrunners and writers, while Sarah Adina Smith («Chemistry Lessons») and Owen Harris («Black Mirror») are on board as directors. Ryan Condall («House of the Dragon») has joined as an executive producer.
