Rumors about the «Borat» star joining the Marvel universe have been circulating for several years, but he will probably finally make his debut in the «Spider-Man 4» movie.
According to insider Jeff Snyder (via World of Reel), Sacha Baron Cohen will be the main villain of the upcoming film with Tom Holland and will play the role of Mephisto.
In general, Marvel boss Kevin Feige allegedly has big plans for this character — he was previously considered for the «It’s All Agatha» series, as well as «Ironheart».
Zendaya, meanwhile will receive «a secondary role» in the fourth new Spider-Man movie — mainly due to a busy schedule that includes filming in «Euphoria» and third «Duni». Other potential «Spider-Man 4» cameos are rumored to include Daredevil Charlie Cox and Tom Hardy’s vein.
The project will be directed by Daniel Destin Cretton («Shan-Chi»). Production will begin in 2025, with a release scheduled for 2026 — following new «Avengers».
During a recent interview, Holland said that he has already read the draft script and called the authors’ work excellent. The actor has played Peter Parker in three separate films directed by Jon Watts: «Spider-Man: Homecoming» (2017), «Spider-Man: Far From Home» (2019) and «Spider-Man: No Way Home» (2021).
