
Starting today, the continuation of the sci-fi series Severance — is broadcast on Apple TV+, with the first episode available for viewing, while the rest will be released every Friday.
The series tells the story of a group of Lumon Industries employees who have agreed to a surgical procedure called «Severance», which separates their memories into work and home memories. In fact, two personalities live in the body: intro (those at work) and extra (those at home), and their plans and dreams do not always coincide. The final episode of the first season focused on the fact that Mark Scout and his colleagues in the macro data processing department secretly awaken their intros in bodies outside of work and learn some unexpected details about the activities of their extras (mostly Hallie)
Critics who watched the second season before the official debut praised the sequel quite highly, giving the series a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (currently assessing decreased by a couple of pointsbut is still quite high). In reviews, the second season of «Breakup» was called one of the best series of the year, noting the acting, interesting plot and visual elements.
«The second season proves that The Break is not a good show, it’s a great show. And at least in the first half, the continuation of its desire to expand its scope has not dulled its sharp edges», — the author wrote The Verge Andrew Webster.
The second season will consist of 10 episodes, with the final one coming out only on March 21. Meanwhile, according to the show’s creators, work on the third has already begun and it will be released earlier than expected (the second debuted three years after the first season ended).
Director and executive producer Ben Stiller also noted that the «story will continue as long as the» story makes sense, although he clarified that no one is going to drag the show out.
«Apple has always supported us and has not demanded an extension just because the show is successful,» Stiller said in an interviewCollider. «The series will last as long as history lasts. We have an idea that we are working on as we start working on the third season».
The series stars Adam Scott, Tramell Tillman, Britt Lover, Zach Cherry, Jen Tulloch, Michael Chernus, Deacon Luckman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette in the second season, judging by the trailersWe should expect to see more additions to the cast, as Mark seems to be getting new colleagues in the department, temporarily or not.
