In a new trailer, the developers of the role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 announced the voice cast for the characters. Famous actors, including Andy Serkis and Ben Starr, joined the project.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is being developed by the French studio Sandfall Interactive. The developers drew inspiration from the French Impressionist era and the work of the Lumiere brothers.

The game’s plot revolves around a group of researchers who are confronted by a deity called the Paintress. This creature terrorizes the inhabitants by organizing mass murders.

The gameplay combines turn-based combat with real-time elements. The visual style of the menu and interface resembles a mix of Persona and Dishonored.

The developers have attracted famous actors to voice the characters. Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in «The Lord of the Rings», will voice a character named Renoir. Ben Starr, known for his role as Clive in Final Fantasy XVI, will lend his voice to the dangerous stranger Verso.

Charlie Cox («Daredevil»), Jennifer English (Baldur’s Gate III, Elden ring), Kirsty Ryder («The sandman») and Shala Nix (Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, «Immortal Guard»).

Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, the game’s lead screenwriter, spoke about working with the actors:

«The actors did an excellent job. They skillfully conveyed the complexity of the characters, who were affected by the harshness of their world».

The developers plan to release Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in early 2025. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam).
