Trailer «live-action» fantasy version «How to Train Your Dragon» — Toothless is back in flight, and Gerard Butler becomes a «real» Viking

After a short teaser that we were shown in the fallUniversal Pictures has released a full-length trailer for the fantasy adventure «How to Train Your Dragon» —, a live-action adaptation of the 2010 DreamWorks animated film of the same name.

«On the harsh island of Tup, where Vikings and dragons have been sworn enemies for centuries, lives young Hiccup, the clever but underappreciated son of the chief Stoic the Mighty. Against centuries of tradition, he dares to befriend Toothless, a fearsome dragon of the Night Fury breed. Their unexpected alliance reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the foundations of Viking society».

The trailer showcases interesting visual effects, offers a new look at the main characters, and provides brief references to some of the best moments of the animated film.

The film stars Mason Thames (Hiccup) and Nico Parker (Astrid), while Gerard Butler reprises his live-action animated role as Stoic. «How to Train Your Dragon» is directed by Dean DeBlois, who worked on the original «Oscar-nominated film and its two sequels (the series has grossed over $1.6 billion at the box office). The original composer John Powell also returned to work.

DeBlois himself promised that the live-action version would remain faithful to the original source (in this case, hinting at the cartoon, as it is also based on the book series of the same name by Cressida Covell), but would have extended scenes and new twists in the plot.

The premiere of «How to Train Your Dragon» is scheduled for June 13, 2025 (it is likely to debut in Ukraine a day earlier).
