New «hardware» — new troubles. The newly released Core Ultra 200 desktop processors have encountered crashes under Windows 11 24H2. It is recommended to disable the built-in graphics.
Asus has notified reviewers of the problems during the operating system update. Z890 motherboards may experience crashes or random reboots. The problem is related to Core Ultra 200S series and built-in Xe graphics. It’s likely that a Windows update causes a conflict between the discrete and integrated graphics card.
The solution is simple: users should either disable the integrated graphics before updating the system or update the BIOS. However, both options involve interfering with the BIOS settings, which may cause problems for some users.
Spanish site El Chapuzas Informático showed a screenshot of the message sent by Asus. In fact, it is not known for sure whether this trouble applies only to the review boards or to the user boards as well. But given that they arrived at the same time, there should be no difference.
As you can see, Asus asks you to update the BIOS or turn off the graphics. It’s important to note that the problem affects not only the brand’s motherboards, but also others. No reaction from other manufacturers has been reported yet, but it won’t hurt to check for a BIOS update or disable the built-in graphics if you experience any glitches.
